It’s not been the greatest
Christmas here, there been quite a lot of sad things happen. My Uncle Sandy (my Mum’s cousin) died on Saturday 21 Dec after a short battle against lung cancer. I’ve been visiting him and my Aunt Win in Aberdeen all my life and saw them more often when I stayed in the granite city. When I first moved to Aberdeen we went to see them to let them know I was in town. While we were chatting Sandy said to me:

“You are welcome to visit whenever you want. If there’s food in the fridge you can eat what you want, if there isn’t you can starve with the rest of us”.

Such generousity and kindness has left a permanent mark on me, as an example of how people should treat each other.

My Grandad’s dog Sandy slipped a disc in his neck on Christmas Eve. The vet said the situation was pretty grim but gave him a large dose of anti-inflamatories in the hope that Sandy could get better. He did improve but by yesterday it was obvious that he was in a serious amount of pain and he had to be put to sleep. Sandy was the most amazing dog I have ever met. My Grandparents adopted him from a friend. He seemed immediately aware of my Nan’s disability and was always careful with her and awae of how to treat her. He loved nothing more than being petted and you had to sit down as soon as you got in the door so he could jump on you lap to say hello and get a clap. It is a tragic loss, he was inseperable from my Grandad and the only real reason that my Grandad ventured out of the house.

Anyway, let’s hope next year is a better year. Although, personally speaking, I am sad to say that I doubt it.

Happy New Year

[1

post-55","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
