Argentina

I have a close friend in Argentina and am therefore
more fully aware of events there than I might have been. I dunno how
much you know about the situation there (if you feel you don’t know
check out the BBC)
but it is absolutely catastrophic, for example, the only public
servants being paid are the police, as they defend the stores from
looters, the health service is breaking down, pensioners are recieveing
no pension and they had five presidents over Christmas. On top
of that companies are witholding vital supplies in order to make a
fortune when the peso is devalued. Isn’t it sick that while others are
suffering, companies still only think about profits.
I also read today that the new President has been given powers to
combat the crisis, which will include devaluation of the peso. This
will almost immediately bankrupt a large number of people and
businesses. Unemployement is roughly 20% get the picture of what it’s
like?
OK so the main point of this post is please spare a thought for all the
people suffering in the world and I don’t doubt that the Argentinians
aren’t the worst off. We have such a comfortable life, what have we
done to deserve it? I’ve done nothing that lifts me to this relative
oppulance, how about you?
The same is true about the post concerning Jennifer Brown (below), no
matter who you are, pain and suffering can visit you. So he may be the
sencond most powerful man in the UK but spare a thought for him and his
family, please.
