I started writing this post in 2009! Trawling through my site I found the draft and thought it would be cool to post.

This post has been in the works for a week or so. Last week I was lucky enough to meet a guest lecturer who is good friends with my high school chemistry teacher. I was so happy to be able to pass along a simple message to the man who is one of the inspirations to me being here (I’m typing this in one of the Moray House PC labs).

Douglas, our chemistry lecturer quotes Frank McCourt when talking about feed back from pupils, students (in Scotland) never tell you “That was a great lesson” etc but what they do say is “See you next week!” this supposedly is the equivalent of “Well done, sir”.

The message? “Thank you”. Simple, huh? It made me so happy just to let him know that. I don’t claim that I was a special student (far from it), I also don’t claim that he’s going to think I am going to be the greatest teacher on Earth but I think he’ll be quietly pleased to know that his influence from 15 years ago is still appreciated.
