Sorry for the inactivity – though I doubt many people really read these cyber textual wanderings. Oh well, if you are, strap yourself in for another stream of conciousness!

Things here are ticking along. The last few months have seen many amazing highs and a couple of lows.

Firstly, my Uncle Bill (actually my mother’s cousin’s husband but an ever present in Aberdeen throughout my life) died last week. He was an extremely nice and kind man to me and I’ll miss him. I am incredibly lucky that this has been the first death in my family since I came to Japan.

Lately, I’ve been feeling variation of homesickness and contentment – weird, huh? Life here is quite weird. Out here I have made two of the best and most important friends I have had in my life. They make my life interesting just by their presence.

The fact I haven’t seen anyone in my family (besides my Mum) for over two years is telling on me. I had planned to go home at Christmas but that is looking increasingly unlikely – which is not going to be nice.
