So should I stay or should I go? I have about 1 or 2 months tops to decide what to do. There are several pros and cons:
*Pros*
# Money – the job pays well and as I have done all the travelling I am interested in doing I should be able to bank some serious cash.
# Friends – believe it or not I have made some good friends here, staying would be fantastic from that point of view.
*Cons*
# Rough ride – it’s been a tough year. Can I handle more? I think so, things are a lot better now than they have been for nearly a year. Add to that the common belief that the second year is the toughest year and you generally settle down again, maybe it won’t be so bad.
# Family – I miss them like crazy. If I do stay I am planning to go home for Christmas/New Year perhaps. That would make the year far more bearable. My Mum misses me like crazy and if I stay it’ll affect her.
# Career stagnation – while Nova pays well, it isn’t progressing my career. It’s another year effectively wasted in this regard.
That’s just the ones of the top of my head. There are other factors, like, does Nova want me to stick around? For sure some of the students do, already the gossiping about me staying has started. And the reaction seems positive. Should find out how the company feel tomorrow when I speak to my boss.
In a way it’s kind of a no win situation. No matter what happens I am going to be sad about some aspect of it. At the moment I think I am going to stay, you never know though – 6 weeks ago I would have said I would never stay!
